Terms of Use
Last updated August 26, 2026
These terms cover the Screen Records app and this website. Using either means you accept them.
The license you buy
A purchase grants you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the app for personal or commercial work, on the number of Macs your plan allows: one Mac for the single license, three for the three-machine license.
The license does not expire. It covers all 1.x updates. A future major version may be a separate purchase; if it is, we will say so clearly before it ships.
The free trial
The app records 3 times without a license, at full quality and without a watermark. After that, recording requires a license. Projects you recorded during the trial remain editable and exportable.
Working around the trial limit — patching the app, tampering with stored counters, or sharing license credentials — is a breach of these terms and voids the license.
Activation and seats
Each Mac you activate uses one seat. When you reach your seat limit, the app will say so rather than deactivating another machine silently. Contact support@screenrecords.app to release a seat — for example after selling a Mac.
Licenses are for you or your organisation. You may not resell, sublicense, rent, or redistribute the app or its license keys.
What you record is your responsibility
The app captures whatever you point it at. You are responsible for having the right to record it — including consent from people on camera or in a call, and compliance with the recording laws where you and they are. We have no visibility into your recordings and cannot police this for you.
Ownership
You own everything you record and export, entirely. We claim no rights over your content. We own the app, its source, and its branding; nothing here transfers that.
Warranty and liability
The app is provided “as is”. We work hard to make recording reliable, but we cannot warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free on every Mac and macOS version.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for your license. We are not liable for lost recordings, lost profits, or consequential damages. For anything irreplaceable, confirm your recording saved before you close the source.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations. Where that is the case, they apply only as far as the law permits, and your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.
Termination
These terms apply for as long as you use the app. We may revoke a license for a chargeback, fraudulent payment, or a breach of these terms. If we revoke a license we did not have cause to revoke, we will refund it.
Changes
We may update these terms for new features or legal reasons. Changes are not retroactive: the terms in force when you bought your license continue to govern that purchase.
