Install it
- Open the downloaded .dmg.
- Drag Screen Records into your Applications folder.
- Eject the disk image and launch the app from Applications.
- Grant Screen Recording access when macOS asks — the app cannot capture anything without it.
- Optionally allow Microphone and Camera if you want narration or a camera bubble.
Why macOS trusts it
Every build is code-signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple before release. That means Gatekeeper opens it normally — no right-click-Open workaround, no “unidentified developer” dialog. If you ever see one, you did not get the file from us.
Apple Silicon and Intel
The app runs natively on Apple Silicon (M-series) and on Intel Macs running macOS 13.0 or later. Encoding is hardware-accelerated on both, so exports do not tie up the machine.
macOS permissions
What the app asks for, and why.
macOS gates screen capture behind an explicit permission. The app checks each one on launch and tells you which is missing before you record — that is the warning line at the bottom of the setup window.

Granted a permission and the app still says it is missing? macOS often needs the app relaunched before it picks up the change. Use Fix Permissions… in the setup window — it opens the right pane of System Settings and re-checks when you come back. Still stuck: support.
